Chadderton Learning Centre
Welcome to Chadderton Learning Centre — a pioneering alternative education hub built on a simple but powerful belief: every young person deserves an education that works for them.
Chadderton Learning Centre was founded in 2025 at Chadderton Football Club in Oldham. We recognised a growing need for a provision that doesn't just manage behaviour, but genuinely transforms lives — through education, sport, and personal development.
Our three-tier model gives schools a flexible, high-quality option — whether that means in-school support, off-site intervention, or a full-time placement.
"We don't give up on any child. We find the approach that makes them want to come back tomorrow."
— Director, Chadderton Learning Centre
Chadderton Learning Centre
Based at Chadderton FC, we combine the energy of sport with structured, personalised learning — a combination that resonates powerfully with disengaged young people.
Chadderton Learning Centre is not a last resort — it's a proactive, structured pathway. We work alongside schools, not instead of them. Pupils remain on their school roll throughout.
We serve schools across Oldham and surrounding areas, offering transport support, a safe environment, and specialist staff passionate about young people.
Chadderton Learning Centre
To provide a safe, structured, and supportive alternative education environment that re-engages young people, builds resilience, and creates pathways to success through education, sport, and wellbeing.
A future where every young person in Oldham and beyond has access to an education that meets their needs — regardless of the challenges they face.
We believe in the unique power of sport and physical activity to unlock motivation, build character, and develop transferable life skills. Education, sport, and wellbeing are not separate — they are one.
Chadderton Learning Centre
We set high expectations for every pupil. We believe ambition is a skill that can be taught — and we teach it every day.
Mutual respect between staff and pupils underpins everything. A culture of respect enables real learning and genuine connection.
We help young people develop the mental strength to face adversity — on the pitch and in life.
Every pupil is valued whatever their background or ability. Our provision adapts — they shouldn't have to.
We celebrate every step forward. Progress is personal — we measure what matters for each individual.
Chadderton Learning Centre
Chadderton Learning Centre offers a flexible, graduated model that allows schools to select the level of support that best matches each pupil's need. All pupils remain on their home school roll.

Chadderton Learning Centre
Our curriculum re-engages and inspires. It centres on literacy, numeracy, and personal development, with sport and wellbeing woven throughout. Every lesson starts from the pupil's current level and builds from there.
Small groups (max 7 pupils) with individualised learning plans. Qualified teachers and trained sports coaches co-deliver sessions. ASDAN Short Courses and Functional Skills pathways available.
We measure progress through baseline and exit assessments, attendance data, behaviour records, and pupil voice. End-of-cycle reports are shared with schools and parents.
Chadderton Learning Centre
RISE is Chadderton Learning Centre's positive behaviour and recognition framework — celebrating the qualities we want young people to develop and demonstrate every day.
Chadderton Learning Centre
Pupils earn RISE points throughout the day for demonstrating our four core qualities. Points are tracked individually and celebrated weekly.
RISE points can be awarded by any member of staff at any time and are logged on our tracking system. Pupils are praised publicly.
Every Friday, the week's top RISE performers are recognised. RISE Champion certificates are awarded in a celebration assembly.
At the end of each 12-week cycle, top RISE pupils receive formal recognition — letters home and certificates.
Each pupil carries a RISE card. Staff sign off points directly on the card — giving pupils visible, tangible evidence of their progress.
Chadderton Learning Centre
Consistent attendance is at the heart of Chadderton Learning Centre's model. We work closely with schools, families, and pupils to remove every barrier to attendance.
AM and PM registration is recorded for every pupil every day. Attendance data is shared with the home school weekly.
If a pupil is absent without prior notification, we contact both family and school before 09:30 each morning.
We offer transport support for pupils where travel is a genuine barrier to attendance. Please discuss at referral stage.
