We deliver a tiered model of intervention and support, designed to provide schools with flexible, high-quality solutions for pupils who require an alternative approach to learning.
Each tier reflects a different level of intensity, duration, and environment — ensuring that every learner receives the right level of guidance and engagement to support their individual journey. Fundamentally, the child's needs and wellbeing are our priority, but development and progression is the golden thread that runs through our entire service offering.
Important: Unless otherwise agreed, all pupils remain on the roll of their referring school, which retains responsibility for attendance and academic progress — while Chadderton Learning Centre delivers targeted intervention, regular updates, and a structured reintegration plan.
Tier 1 focuses on early intervention within the student's existing school environment. It provides 1:1 or small-group mentoring delivered on-site by trained Chadderton Learning Centre mentors, allowing students to receive tailored guidance without disrupting their daily routine.
Sessions focus on self-management, behaviour, attendance, motivation, and confidence building — helping learners remain engaged in mainstream education. Open to both Primary and Secondary aged children.
Tier 2 offers a half-day off-site intervention for pupils who benefit from time away from the school environment. Delivered either morning (9:30–12:00) or afternoon (13:00–15:30), sessions combine personal development activities, physical wellbeing, and a foundation skills intervention in English or Maths.
This approach helps pupils rebuild confidence, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning through a supportive and active setting.
Tier 3 provides the most comprehensive support, offering two full days per week at the Chadderton Learning Centre. Students engage in a blended curriculum combining academic study, vocational learning, physical activity, and wellbeing sessions.
Placements run for a minimum of one term (approximately 12 weeks), with flexibility for students to remain for the full academic year where appropriate.
At Chadderton Learning Centre, learning is at the heart of everything we do. While our approach may not always look like traditional classroom learning, it is purposeful, structured, and designed to reignite curiosity, engagement, and ambition.
We are not a holding space for disruptive pupils — we are a learning centre committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to achieve and thrive academically, socially, and personally.
Teaching is delivered by qualified teachers, and all enrichment and sporting activities are led by experienced and accredited coaches, ensuring high-quality, consistent delivery across every aspect of our provision.
Foundation Subject Focus
We focus on Foundation Skills in English and Maths because achieving qualifications in these subjects is the golden ticket to future success — with young people who do not pass them being twice as likely to become NEET.
Our curriculum is designed to re-engage learners, build core academic skills, and provide early access to meaningful vocational pathways that inspire aspiration and achievement.
Students receive daily Functional Skills English and Maths alongside PSHE and sport-based enrichment. Vocational studies in Sport and E-Sports serve as a practical and motivational hook.
We aim to see measurable improvements in engagement, attendance, confidence, and attainment — evidenced through reintegration success, qualifications achieved, and positive destinations.
Alongside our core learning and curriculum provision, Chadderton Learning Centre provides a range of additional services designed to remove barriers to access, enhance personal development, and create meaningful opportunities beyond the classroom.
We recognise that access to education can be hindered by practical barriers such as transport. Chadderton Learning Centre offers supported transport options for learners where required, including collection and drop-off services — ensuring attendance is consistent, safe, and reliable.
Our mentoring offer extends beyond the classroom, available both within schools and off-site. Delivered by experienced mentors, sessions focus on confidence building, emotional regulation, and developing positive attitudes toward learning. Each relationship is structured and purposeful with clear goals.
Chadderton Learning Centre will proudly work towards becoming a Duke of Edinburgh Award Lead Centre, offering students the opportunity to complete Bronze and, in time, Silver level awards. This nationally recognised programme builds essential life and employability skills — promoting teamwork, leadership, and personal achievement.
Chadderton Learning Centre will offer ASDAN-accredited qualifications alongside our core curriculum. ASDAN programmes promote practical learning through challenge-based activities that develop communication, problem-solving, and independence — bridging the gap between education and employability.
Our RISE Reward Scheme celebrates and encourages the positive behaviours, attitudes, and achievements that reflect our core values. It promotes personal responsibility, sustained engagement, and pride in progress.
The scheme operates on three recognition levels — Daily, Weekly, and Termly — ensuring learners are consistently motivated and rewarded throughout their journey with us.
Daily
Earn RISE Points each session for demonstrating our values
Weekly
Bronze, Silver, or Gold Learner titles celebrated on our RISE Board
Termly
The RISE Ambassador Award — recognising our most consistently engaged learners with celebration events, gift vouchers, and certificates presented by the Head of Centre
A successful placement at Chadderton Learning Centre begins with a thorough and accurate referral. Our admissions operate on a roll-on, roll-off basis, allowing flexibility throughout the academic year for learners in Years 8–11, including those with SEND and SEMH needs.
We encourage referring schools, families, and learners to visit the centre before any placement begins. A visit helps students experience the environment, meet staff, and understand our approach — while giving schools the chance to discuss the learner's needs and intended outcomes.
Once a place is agreed, schools complete the Chadderton Learning Centre Referral Form, providing all key details on academic ability, attendance, behaviour, wellbeing, and any additional needs. This forms the foundation of the learner's support plan and ensures a smooth, informed start.
Following acceptance, the learner begins a structured induction, receiving their Learner Journey Log to track goals, attendance, progress, and reflections. Regular updates are shared with schools and families to keep everyone connected and informed.
Across all tiers, reintegration is a core outcome. Each placement concludes with a personalised reintegration or progression plan, created collaboratively with the referring school, parents, and the pupil. This includes ongoing check-ins and follow-up mentoring to ensure a smooth transition and sustained progress.
Progress is documented and presented in a termly report with a visual radar graph, shared with schools and families.
